The World

Bahia Honda: 18 Apr 2009

Spend a relaxing afternoon anchored off the shore of the Panamanian island of Bahia Honda. Some of the Residents will no doubt paddle out to greet The World in dugout canoes, welcoming you to their island paradise. Ashore, visit the small school in the village or perhaps explore the island by kayak. Dolphins frequent the deep waters surrounding the island, playfully breaching the surface for air. The island is home to white-faced capuchins, green iguanas, caimans, three-toed sloths and many tropical bird species.

The only sources of electricity on the island are solar or gas-powered generators, the only phones cellular. A few mainlanders have found their way here, happy to live a quiet, uncomplicated life amid the mangroves and palms.
